Pench National Park lies right at the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara. In 1983, The Pench Wildlife Sanctuary was announced as a National Park and then later in 1992, a Tiger Reserve. It covers a vast area of approximately 117.63 sq. km. The National Park provides an exceptional experience of wilderness. It is named after the Pench River which lies in between the two regions; the districts of Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur district of Maharashtra. Surprisingly, The Pench River geographically distributes the core zone in approximately two equal parts Seoni and Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh.

The pure luck of spotting a Black Panther
Very few in number, spotting a Black Panther at Pench National Park is an experience that is one in a million. In November 2020, a tourist encountered one of the rarest sights, one jet-black leopard out of the three leopards. Since then, there has been regular patrolling around the area to get more shots of the black cat. The sighting took place in the Buffer zone of the Pench National Park. Black Panther are a melanistic colour version of the regular Leopards. Melanism in Leopards is because they have recessive alleles.
